How it works
Ready in three steps
Read in your plan
Scan the eMediplan QR from your doctor or pharmacy. Every medication is entered right away, with dosage and intake times. Without a QR code, scan the barcode on the pack or type the medication in by hand.
Get reminded
Meditag checks in with you in the morning, at noon, in the evening and at night. What you have taken, you tick off right in the notification.
Show your doctor
Before an appointment, create a PDF of the last seven days: what you took, what you missed, and if you want, blood pressure and weight.
Features
What Meditag does for you
Reminders that follow your meals
Set once when you usually have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reminders follow that rhythm, not a fixed clock time.
Catch up on a missed dose
A missed dose stays visible until you log it or deliberately skip it. When you log it late, the app shows exactly which day and time the entry counts for.
A warning before the pack is empty
Meditag deducts every dose from your stock and shows how many days your packs will last. The warning comes early enough to reorder without hurry.
Restock by scanning the barcode
For a new pack, scan the barcode. Meditag recognises the medication and files it under the right entry. If the pharmacy dispensed a different strength, the app asks before it converts.
Family can keep an eye on things
If you want, pair the phone of someone you trust via QR code. They see your plan and get a notification when a dose is overdue. Once you log it, they get the all-clear. You can end the link at any time.
Vitals without typing
Blood pressure, pulse and weight come in from Apple Health or Google Health Connect, for example from Withings or Omron devices. If you want, the values appear in the doctor report too.
Moving to a new phone
With your encrypted backup and recovery code you bring the whole plan to the new device. Only someone with the code can read the backup. We don't have it.
Works with a weekly pill organiser
If you fill a weekly organiser, set that in Meditag: stock is deducted when you fill it, and the daily reminders stay.
Why Meditag
Built by someone who needed it
When I was going through cancer treatment, managing my medications became one more source of stress. I had my doctor's plan, but no simple way to follow it day to day. An app I could trust, hosted in Switzerland, that kept my data private: it didn't exist.
So I built Meditag. First for myself. Now for you.
Trust
Why you can trust Meditag
No server sees your medications
Your plan lives on your phone. Backup and the family feature are end-to-end encrypted. Our servers hold only encrypted data that we cannot read.
A cooperative, not investors
Meditag belongs to a registered cooperative. No pharma company, no insurer and no investor makes money from your data. That is why the app can stay free: no subscription, no ads.
Swiss servers, Swiss law
The little data needed for backup or sharing is stored encrypted on servers in Switzerland, under Swiss data protection law.
Works without internet
Reminders, log and doctor report run entirely on the device. A connection is only needed if you back up or share your plan with family.
Frequently asked
What our users ask us
-
Do I need an account?
No. Meditag works without registration. Your medication plan stays on your device.
-
What is an eMediplan QR code?
The eMediplan is a Swiss standard used by many doctor's practices and pharmacies. Its QR code contains your whole medication plan. Meditag reads it and enters every medication with dosage and intake times.
-
My practice doesn't have a QR code. Can I still use Meditag?
Yes. Scan the barcode on the medication package or type the medication in by hand. You can read an eMediplan QR later at any time.
-
Does Meditag work without internet?
Yes. Reminders, the log and the PDF report work without a connection. Internet is only needed for the encrypted backup and the family feature.
-
How does the family feature work?
You pair the phone of someone you trust: they scan your pairing code. From then on they see your plan on their own device and get a notification when a dose is overdue. You can end the link at any time. Without pairing, everything stays private on your phone.
-
What happens when I get a new phone?
With the encrypted backup and your recovery code you bring your plan to the new device. The backup can only be read with your code, not even by us.
-
Does Meditag cost anything?
No. No subscription and no ads. Meditag is run by an independent cooperative, not by a pharma company, an insurer or an investor.
